Is a 14-year-old asking for a zippo lighter for chrismas sketchy

No way to put a bright face on that one.
The best thing you could want it for is to smoke nicotine,
which they wo not like, and it will make them worry about the
worse things it might be for until they will be happy to consider
that you might just be a budding arsonist.

It is sketchy, yes. At 14 their minds r immediately going to go towards cigarettes or marijuana as the reason.

But, if you're dead-set that u want one & u honestly do not want to use it for the inappropriate things, u could think up the things that u would use it for -- such as candles, or even better, room decoration. If u just want it because it looks cool, it might be easier to convince them to get it for you, because u would not have any lighter fluid in it & therefore it would be useless as an actual lighter. :)

I'd whip you and make you stay in your room if you asked for a lighter for Christmas.

It does sound sketchy. It is like asking them to buy you cigarettes, because that is exactly what they're going to think you need a lighter for.

What is it about Zippos that you think are cool - that they are associated with smoking and marijuana culture? Or that they're a little higher-end and if you whip out a Zippo to light a friend is smoke, they will be impressed?

Ask for an Ipod, they're way cooler.
