I have seen this done. Results: Black smoke, mini-explosions, high flaming and it does not last long since it evaporates quickly. Bad idea.

In fact I tried to use kerosene once, but it did not want to light at all.when it finally did it was a low flame.looks like your gonna' have to break down and spend 3 or 4 dollars, quid, or whatever you barter with , cigs?? I hope not.
