You can bring up to 2 Zippo lighters in ur checked luggage as long as they r in approved containers. http://tsa.dhs.gov/travelers/airtravel/assistant/editorial_multi_image_with_table_0099.shtm
As for alcohol, I think u can take it. The bags r not inspected until after u have checked them & they r sent behind the ticket desk. There r regulations about the type & volume of alcohol u can take in ur bags. http://tsa.dhs.gov/travelers/airtravel/assistant/editorial_1189.shtm
You are allowed 2 Zippo lighters in your checked bags if they are in approved DOT containers. ''The packaging is a vapor-tight plastic box that can accommodate a single Zippo lighter. '' As for having them discovered do you really want the TSA pawing through all of your stuff ?
They will let you check it, however if it has butane in it and they look at it they may take it away if there is any leaking. Check out the TSA website for more information.
i've stuck my lighters in the checked luggage, and uhh.they did not blow up :)
as for the alcohol, if it is domestic, i doubt they will do anything about it, and in the most like the other person said, they will merely confiscate it.
You are not allowed to have any lighters either in your check luggage or your carry-on luggage. Not sure what the chance of them finding it is, but they will take it away if they do find it. Do you want to risk losing it?
A Zippo lighter wo not explode in stored baggage and airline security will let you carry one there without a problem. For the alcohol, it depends on the type of flight (domestic / international / countries traveling through.) but the chances of it being discovered in the post-911 age is probably medium. As for what the airline would do: most probably nothing. In an extreme case they may confiscate it.
